Packaging & Shipping Instructions for Recycling
Do not use Styrofoam packaging material, i.e. peanuts, foam padding, flow-foam products, etc. in the battery boxes or in the pallets. All types of cardboard and shrink-wrap material are OK.

When packaging and shipping the battery pallet, if the batteries are not in boxes, place one layer of batteries upright, then place cardboard on top of that layer before you put another layer of batteries on the pallets. Place more cardboard on top, then shrink-wrap the layers (batteries boxed and not in boxes) heavily to the pallet making sure the shrink-wrap is all the way down around the pallet itself. Use enough shrink-wrap to keep the batteries from shifting during transportation. NEVER put more than two layers on each pallet. The whole pallet with the layers should never be taller than it is wide. Always use heavy duty pallets with two by four supports. When packaging batteries that are over 16 inches tall, only put one layer high on each pallet. Always put leaking damaged batteries in drums or pails.
When packaging and shipping drums or pails, make sure lids are secure and if on a pallet, secured to the pallet during shipment so as not to come open, tip, spill, leak or shift off the pallet during shipping. Use tape on the pail lids to secure them from opening.
When shipping Wet Cell Batteries with acid electrolyte, use a corrosive Class 8 placard on 2 sides of each pallet or container. For VRLA Batteries use NON-SPILLABLE labels. We supply you with these labels.
PLEASE NOTE: If you do not have a loading dock or lift truck to load the battery containers Battery Solutions, Inc. must arrange for special equipment which will require a special quote. Also, notify us if you do not have an asphalt or concrete loading dock pit ramp. Please inform us before you package the batteries.
Have a driver of the trucking company sign the bill of lading that we faxed to you. Keep a signed copy for your records. The site contact can obtain this if your technician is not available.
For single battery shipments determine if the battery is the VRLA or Wet Type.
The VRLA type can be packaged in a box and shipped FedX ground. Mark the box NON-SPILLABLE or use the label we send to you. We will provide the SHIP TO ADDRESS for the closest location.
The packaging of the single Wet Type will have to be determined by the size and weight. Call BSI Logistics Manager for instructions.
